D-Train Update:

Fall D-Train 2009

    Once again, we gathered for the work of the Coast Guard Auxiliary with training sessions, workshops and the glue that holds us together, fellowship. 

        We were warmly greeted by Pam Dillon, Chief, ODNR Watercraft and we all got the opportunity to get acquainted with LCDR Bill Butler, our new DIRAUX.

        We had some awards and we remembered those who had gone before us as we always do.  The new director passed on the  Director's Cup to another member who has done above and beyond the call.  Coastie even dropped by for a training session

    Elections were held For District Captain and those that won the election were, Walt Whitacre, DCAPT South, Gerlinde Higginbotham, DCAPT East, and George Grone, DCAPT West.  The real winners were the members of the 8th Eastern Region for the slate of fine and dedicated people vying for the positions.

        With a change in format we had our Commodore's Banquet on Friday night and got to meet Rear Admiral, Mary Landry and she helped us celebrate the 70th Anniversary of The Auxiliary with the ceremonial first cut .

    Saturday night brought fun times and we heard there was a new Sherriff in town. We'll all be in Morgantown, WV next Spring to see if the Sherriff got his man!!
